Don McEachern, the president and CEO of North Star Destination Strategies, has a Southern drawl so thick you can cut it with a knife.
“It’s a treat to be back in Lo-dah,” McEachern told a group of community officials at Tuesday’s tourism luncheon at Wine & Roses.
McEachern lives on a horse farm in Nashville, Tenn., where he brands communities throughout the country. He’s been doing it for more than 20 years.
McEachern has developed promotional campaigns for such diverse locales as Mississippi; Florida; New Orleans; Anchorage, Alaska; Dayton, Ohio; Newark, N.J.; and Providence, R.I. He’s working on plans for Sebastopol in Sonoma County, Warrensburg, Mo., and Petersburg, Alaska.

Lodi already showcases its growing wine industry, but community leaders are beginning a major promotion of other things to do in the Lodi area.
“There’s more magic to Lodi than what’s in your glass,” was the theme at Tuesday’s annual tourism luncheon sponsored by the Visit Lodi! Conference and Visitors Bureau.
