Clairmont Elementary School earned a visit from People Assisting Lodi Shelter after raising $3,500 for the new animal shelter.
PALS sent representative Janet Bange to the school to visit classrooms and thank students for their help.
Students and staff planned to raise $2,500, but greatly exceeded their goal. In return, Bange presented each classroom with a certificate of appreciation, PALS bookmarks for each child, a Kit Kat bar for every student, and a small stuffed animal dog as a permanent reminder of the school's connection with PALS.
Classes that reached their goal of raising $150 were also visited by animal services officer Jennifer Bender and her rescued animal shelter Chihuahua.
The shelter is planned to be built next fall. The animal shelter will allow PALS to rescue and find homes for an additional 400 dogs and cats annually who would otherwise have to be euthanized.
