The city of Galt, together with California Waste Recovery Systems, provides the following options for Christmas tree disposal:

Leave trees curbside on Jan. 7. The local Boy Scouts will collect trees between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Donations are requested.

Trees not collected by the Boy Scouts will be picked up by California Waste Recovery Systems between Jan. 9 and Jan. 13.

Leave trees curbside the week of Jan. 9, and California Waste Recovery Systems will pick up the trees on the regularly scheduled collection day.

Trees remaining after Jan. 13 can be disposed of either by cutting the trees into three-foot or shorter pieces and placing trees inside the yard and garden cart for regular yard and garden service pickup, or using a bulk waste pick up day. (Each resident has two per calendar year.)

Contact California Waste Recovery Systems at 369-6887 for additional information or if a special circumstance exists regarding disposal of your Christmas tree.

I'm love real Christmas trees, but the clean up is just a bit much. I'd rather keep my plastic tree and keep hanging the decorations I got from homeseasons. Just keeps the mess low and the maintenance down.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
