Officers from the Lodi and Galt police departments in connection with other agencies arrested 27 people during the weekend in an effort to target gang members and violent offenders, according to Lodi police. Seven of those arrested are documented gang members, according to Sgt. Tod Patterson.

The multi-agency mission is designed to target and arrest gang members, violent offenders, people with active warrants and persons on probation and parole in San Joaquin County, according to Lodi Police Officer James Pendergast.

Eighteen people were arrested by Friday night, but the number went up to 27 by Sunday afternoon, Patterson reported.

One parolee attempted to escape his residence and hide in the attic, but he was found and arrested on suspicion of committing a parole violation, Pendergast said. In addition, two people on active parole were arrested on suspicion of carrying replica handguns, police said.

Other arrests included 10 on drugs or paraphernalia possession, 10 parole violations, five on warrants, three on probation violations and two for public intoxication, Patterson said.

All police activity is appreciated, but 7 documented bangers is a pitiful number. I would think there are easily 7 shooting incidents every month in Lodi.

I agree with all the remarks on this subject. gang bangers are like cockroaches, you get rid of one and hundreds more come. it is a problem in both Galt and Lodi, but why would galt pd be invlovled with bust in lodi or visa versa? get rid of all of them, put them over on alcatraz, give them some weapons and let them kill each other off. save tax payers money. I do give thanks to all agencies involved in getting them off the streets, but lets be real, they get arrested, they go to court, then they are out. I see it over and over again in my own town. so if it happens here then I know it happens everywhere.

It's OBVIOUS to us CITIZENS that gang bangers REFUSE to OBEY the law and will always be a threat to American Citizens. But in California it is PC to be nice to gang bangers!

In Calif, gang bangers have more rights than the citizens. County Sheriff's and police chiefs refuse to allow us to carry a firearm to protect ourselves.Do you see any Parole/prbation/Gang sweeps in Lodi intended to take any guns away from Gang Bangers?NO!

This is all good and well for Galt, but EXCUSE ME, we have a serious violent acting gang problem in LODI!Why are LPD not afraid to raid gang locations in Galt, but seemenly AFRAID to raid similar gang houses in LODI?

Where I live if you dont pay your state or local tax you name goes in the paper you go to court your name and the crime you are being charged with go in the paper. They need to start doing that there in Lodi.

It would be great to see a list of names with photos and crimes they were currently arrested for and prior convictions and if the are currently or have been in the past on probation or parole.

CIA.. I agree. List the the arrestees names and charges. If they are old enough to be gang bangers and law breakers then their names shouldn't be witheld just because they are under 18 years old. I appreciate the efforts of local law enforcements on gangs but it seems for every banger that is arrested, two take their place. Keep up the good work, keep the pressure on these punks.

I was wondering why they don`t name the bad people so we would know who they are. Where I live, they name the people who do wrong, encluding minors. That way, you know who they are if you were to meet them on the street.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
