The Lodi City Council blocked JoAnne Mounce’s last appointments as mayor to several city boards and commissions after Councilman Bob Johnson accused her of not following city protocol.

Seven spots on four commissions will remain open after Wednesday’s night meeting until newly elected Mayor Alan Nakanishi reviews all 16 applications and makes appointments.

Mr. Johnson, I doubt you'll even get a lump of coal for letting your male chauvinism again rear its ugly head since Ms. Hitchcock retired and now you have no one to practice on but council rep Mounce. You've done a pretty good job on her in the past, too, as archived city coucil meetings will document. You must really be angry that another one of the good old boys wasn't interviewed for the position? I would like to know how many friends/business associates you have stacked on the good old boys' boards? Many of those good old boys have played important parts in every controversial project in Lodi in which the two females were against, but you three amigos and your good old boys on those boards always dominated any issue or project that loaded, presumably, your pockets and theirs through contributions, votes and maybe even special favors.

Let's point out that Akins is Johnson's friend, campaign support and fellow Rotarian. All three applicants are personal friends of Bob and campaign supporters. Each Mayor appoints who they feel will best serve the citizens of Lodi. Bob removed many board members which were appointed by previous Mayors and filled those positions with his friends. As Bob stated himself about replacing other appointments, that it was time to make a change. Can you say Cronyism Bob, Tis, Tis, back on Santa's Naughty List again!!

C'mon, If you read it again, many people apply for jobs at Dougherty, applications are reviewed the cream of the crop are interviewed. I'm sure JoAnne interviews the best candidates for commissions on city time

Dougherty allows you to interview city commission candidates while you are working???? There must be a lot of down time...
