Find fun with books, food, mascots at Little Buckaroos Reading Roundup

Plenty of reading, animals and entertainment will be offered during the literacy fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lodi News-Sentinel parking lot and the Lodi Public Library.

Called the Little Buckaroos Reading Roundup, the event will feature two children’s authors, Lori Mortensen of Cameron Park and Odie Dentone of Acampo.

Other attractions include tours of the News-Sentinel plant by Publisher Mary Weybret and pressroom foreman Joe Mistretta at 10 a.m. and noon, free pony rides for children and appearances by at least three mascots — Thor, from the Stockton Thunder hockey team; Splash, from the Stockton Ports baseball team; and Lodi’s A&W Root Beer bear.

The event will be in the News-Sentinel parking lot and the Lodi Public Library. West Locust Street between South Church Street and Pleasant Avenue will be closed for the duration of the event.
