Northbound Highway 99 was closed for hours today after one person was killed in a three-truck collision just north of Eight Mile Road.
The 9:30 a.m. crash involving two big rigs and a box truck brought all traffic to a stand-still, and vehicles were diverted onto the Highway 99 frontage road.
The unidentified box truck driver was apparently speeding when he rear-ended a big rig that was stopped for congested traffic, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Bill Sivley.
The box truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway reopened at 12:10 p.m.
