On Wednesday, Mayor Doug Kuehne and the Lodi City Council presented the Lodi Lake Nature Area Docents with a proclamation in honor of the group’s 30th anniversary.

The council recognized Dave Mende, Lodi Unified School District science specialist, and former Parks and Recreation Director Ron Williamson for securing a State of California license plate grant to help develop the curriculum for the docent program in 1986. The council also recognized the work of Kathy and Jay Bell for their creation of the docent training manual, as well as training the first docents in 1987.
