Authorities are warning San Joaquin County residents about a new telephone scam aimed at soliciting money over the phone.
Potential victims receive a call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement official, who says there is a warrant out for their arrest because of an unpaid ticket, San Joaquin County Superior Court officials said. The caller then requests money in order to expunge the warrant.
Authorities remind the public that law enforcement and court employees will never call asking for money or requesting financial or personal information.
If you receive a phone call that fits this scenario, call the Lodi Police Department at 209-333-6727.
