A parolee Lodi police officers hoped to capture Saturday night escaped officers, but the police gang suppression unit found another parolee later in the evening.
In the first incident, officers thought they found a parolee at about 9 a.m. in the 300 block of East Locust Street. He ran away from officers, police said.
Later Saturday night, gang suppression officers saw who they thought was the original parolee in the passenger seat of a vehicle at Central Avenue and Pine Street, but it turned out to not be him, police said.
As it turned out, the driver was a different suspect on parole, he said. He drove away and then ran out of the car. He was later captured on the roof of a building in the 400 block of Meadowlark Way, in the southeast corner of Lodi, police said.
The suspect was identified as Fernando Duenez, 35, of Lodi.
