When residents along Acampo Road near Dustin Road learned that Gallo Wineries submitted an application to construct a new winery in the area earlier this month, many of them immediately had concerns regarding the effects that a plant of that size would have on the area.

The winery, approximately 65 acres large, would be completed in three phases over the course of 13 years, according to an application referral filed with the San Joaquin County Community Development Department on Sept. 15. The winery would be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week during harvest season and 24 hours a day, five days a week during the rest of the year, according to the application, which was filed on Sept. 5.
