The man killed in an industrial accident at General Mills' Lodi plant Thursday has been identified.
Though an autopsy investigation is still being conducted, the death certificate for Gary Lawce, a Lodi resident, says he was killed by blunt force and abdominal injury, according to Deputy Deborah Hayes of the San Joaquin County Coroner's Office.
Lawce, 53, was working at General Mills on Thursday when a boxcar he had been unloading supplies from came unhitched, according to Patricia Otriz, spokesperson for the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Lawce attempted to stop the boxcar by using an emergency break but the car continued to roll back, pinning Lawce, according to Ortiz.
