Construction could start on a new Walmart Supercenter in Lodi as early as next spring.
On Thursday, the California Supreme Court decided to not take up the Walmart case, finally ending an 8-year legal battle.

The jobs that people need to live in this country aren't at Walmart.
Darrell Baumbach posted at 10:01 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Yes Walter... www.CPUSA.org
significant organization that supports the democtatic party... do some research

I will continue to shop at Raleys and Safeway. I firmly believe however that Walmart has the right to relocate and expand their current operation. The requirement to fill the current location or demolish the building is absolutely discriminatory. Tell me another business who has relocated or expanded their operation been required to meet those requirements? Walmart, should not be treated any differently than any other business. Lodi First and Citizens for Open Government were nothing but a front for the grocers union.

Jackson, it's still on the table. Developer must rent old spot or demolish before he can start construction on new site.
Jackson Scott posted at 9:04 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Oh joy, Super WalMart is coming to town... yawn.
Sure they have low prices on products in the grocery section, but they also have a horrible selection of products. They usually offer the store generic and one brand name (ketchup = heinz, cheese = kraft, etc). But what if I want Tillimook Cheese? They don't offer it.
As someone said, you have to know your prices. Heck, my 76yo mother goes to about 4 stores per week based on the Wed ads and buys several items at each store. I think that's crazy, a giant waste of time, and saves her only about $5 per week, but she enjoys the hunt of a bargain.
My only question is, what happens to the old store now? I recall that at one point the developer, who owns both walmart sites, promised to fill the old store with a new tennant. Does anyone know if that is still on the table?

"Communist Party USA"
Seriously??
Darrell, I think you're losing your edge!

Mr Chang stated...Darrell, what are you trying to say????
Who cares what I think .I think it is much more interesting to learn what conclusion you draw. What do you think I intended to say? Why?
Ms Bobin, who always draws wrong conclusions was very predictable... but at least she tried to think.
Darrell Baumbach posted at 6:26 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Ms Elliott stated...As much as Darrell hates unions, I hate Wal Mart...
Hate? Odd conclusion. I do not hate unions. Wrong word. I think unions are destructive to the free market system. I think people should be paid based on merit. Unions are anti-merit.Communist Party USA strongly supports union activity. I do not. Why would communist orientated people support unions? Why would Americans support what communists support?
I am very interested in your perspective concerning the idea that Walmart contributed to the demise of industrial America. Can you please articulate points that led you to draw that conclusion.
Joanne Bobin posted at 5:06 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
He's trying to say that union workers at other supermarkets are rude, crude, greedy, could care less about the customers and being paid a h.e.c.k. of a lot less makes you respect your customers a whole lot more. But that's good, because Mr. Baumbach thinks that working for less is an attribute and makes you a better person.
Apple is like any other store - you have to know your prices. Just like WalMart will be. You may get a good price at WalMart on worthless products like Sunny Delight and Hot Pockets, but expect to pay more and get a lesser quality for fresh fruit and veg a la Food 4 Less.
I hope you don't go to WalMart after dark, Mr. Werner. You may need to use something stronger than hand sanitizer. It's shocking what crawls out from under rocks when the sun goes down.
TREACY ELLIOTT posted at 4:56 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
As much as Darrell hates unions, I hate Wal Mart. There form of free market practice is what heavily contributed to the demise of industrial America. Others do it as well, but are force to because of the Wal Mart legacy.

"non union part of our society"
"a non union store locally"
"non union and pleasant"
"non union is worth all"
Darrell, what are you trying to say????
Please articulate.
"So glad construction will wait until after the election"
You know who is going to get credit though, right??

Darrell Baumbach posted at 3:19 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
That they are non union is worth all.
Darrell Baumbach posted at 3:17 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Apples... my favorite store in Lodi... top quality at a reasonable price.... non union and pleasant attmosphere. I am willing to pay more for the experience...fortunately, good prices...
It just so happen that many people who work there are Asian... a real bonus as good service is obvious there.
Ron Werner posted at 2:45 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Why is it I feel like taking a bath in hand sanitizer when I get out of Walmart?
And whats not to love about of all those youtube videos of their customers.
Kevin Paglia posted at 12:37 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Tried shopping in Apple market a few times, could never find everything on my list. Stopped trying. If I'm going to to into a store I want to be sure it will have what I am looking for.
Joanne Bobin posted at 12:10 pm on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Why don't you shop at Apple Market, then? They are local AND non-union - and a plus for you - they are owned by Asian Americans.
Darrell Baumbach posted at 6:58 am on Fri, Aug 10, 2012.
Lodi First and Citizens for Open Government
I want to thank these two groups for making it difficult for the private sector, non union
part of our society to create jobs. So glad construction will wait until after the election.
I really do not like to shop but will look forward to spending money in a non union store locally.
