Authorities chase fugitive onto Lodi school grounds

Authorities apprehended a man wanted for a drug-related federal warrant in the back of La Petite Academy around 2 p.m. Friday.

Members of the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force went to a Lodi residence to interview a woman about her daughter’s boyfriend, Michael Robles, 24, U.S. Deputy Marshal Charles Brown said.

When the task force arrived and knocked on the door, they heard someone inside approach the door, then turn around and run out of the back of the house in the 1500 block of South Mills Avenue, Brown said.

Authorities pursued.

The suspect, believed to be Robles, ran more than a block onto an office complex, Brown said. He broke a window, jumped inside and escaped through the back, according to police. As Robles ran toward the rear of La Petite Academy, a member of the task force fired a Taser at him but missed, police said.

Police said Robles hopped a small wall in the back of the school, but he was caught and arrested before getting more than a couple feet onto school grounds.

Robles is currently in custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
