The Galt Planning Commission will vote tonight on a proposal to allow up to four egg-laying chickens to residents who live within city limits.

The chickens would be required to be kept in an enclosure and the eggs used solely for the household's consumption. Lodi has a similar ordinance.

The idea received little Galt City Council support when it was discussed last month. Because it is a zoning issue, the plan must be approved by the Planning Commission.

If approved, it will then go back to the city council for a vote.

The Planning Commission meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. today in the Galt City Hall City Council chambers, 380 Civic Drive, Galt.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
