All teachers in the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District on Thursday received their own laptop computers as part of the federal Race to the Top grant.
The computers will be used for online personalized learning, according to the district.
They were distributed during a two-hour training session at McCaffrey Middle School on the last work day of the school year.
The computer system supports teacher effectiveness with more 2,000 video training segments, over 3,500 real classroom examples, hundreds of educational topics and more than 900,000 educators participating in an online professional learning community.
The district is one of 16 in the nation to receive a Race to the Top grant to personalize learning and put into place the Common Core Standards.
The $10 million grant is funded for four years.
