In the 24 hours since 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Lodi Police Department handled 142 calls. The following is a sample of calls received by dispatchers.
4:53 p.m.: A woman left the keys in her white, four-door 1990 Toyota Camry in the 2100 block of Sunwest Drive. Then she heard it start, and 10 to 15 minutes later realized it had been stolen.
6:10 p.m.: Several people were cutting down a tree on Poplar Street, blocking traffic, and a caller wanted to know if the people needed a permit.
8:07 p.m.: Two juveniles were breaking sprinkler heads at Heritage School, 509 Eden St.
10:58 p.m.: A man on a bicycle was hitting vehicles with a baseball bat in the 700 block of South Lee Avenue as he headed toward Tokay Street.
12:43 a.m.: A 1995 GMC Yukon was stolen at the Theater, 109 N. School St.
12:51 a.m.: Someone was trying to burglarize a home in the 1100 block of Cardinal Street by going in through the front door with a key.
9:11 a.m.: A white 1993 BMW was stolen about five minutes earlier at The Back Bay, 100 N. Cherokee Lane.
9:23 a.m.: Washing machines and dryers were burglarized at The Oaks Apartments, 835 W. Harney Lane.
10:14 a.m.: Children were playing in the rubble left from the fire at Rashid Imports, 27 S. Sacramento St.
11:15 a.m.: A woman was lost in the 500 block of North Loma Drive.
12:08 p.m.: A juvenile who had a weapon and alcohol was taken into custody at Lodi Middle School, 945 S. Ham Lane.
2:26 p.m.: Males with baseball bats chased a man into Star Market, 741 S. Cherokee Lane, and were waiting outside for him.
2:50 p.m.: A male with black hair and eyeglasses was trying to get students into his gray Honda Prelude at The Oaks Apartments, 835 W. Harney Lane. He then headed north on Hutchins Street.
3:07 p.m.: Items valued at more than $500 were stolen from Casablanca, 20 W. Elm St.
3:18 p.m.: People got into a loud argument at Lodi and Central avenues, and the occupants of a white car said they had a gun.
4:06 p.m.: Five juveniles were driving recklessly in a black car, shooting people with water guns in the 2300 block of Monument Drive. Minutes later, a jogger on Jamestown Drive reported the same thing.
4:43 p.m.: A nude man was sunbathing in the 600 block of East Lockeford Street.
