The headhunting firm handling Galt Joint Union High School District's superintendent search is currently accepting applications. The tentative application closing date is May 28, according to the firm, Leadership Associates, Inc.
Final interviews are expected by June 9, although those dates could change.
Trustees decided last month to hire the firm to find a replacement by July for retiring Superintendent Daisy Lee. The company could charge as much as $21,500 for the expedited service, according to discussion last month.
Rich Thome of Leadership Associates provided an update to the board Tuesday on the search process. It will include meeting with the board to develop a profile of its superintendent, soliciting opinions from community and staff, check references and assist the board through the final interviews and ultimate hiring.
Trustee Angela DaPrato has said the board will seek both community and teacher input when selecting a new superintendent. She would also like to see a candidate who plans to have a long tenure.
Lee, who announced in March that she plans to retire at the end of the school year to take care of a young grandchild, was hired from a Modesto school district after a months-long search, also by Leadership Associates. She has been in the position for two years.
