A truck caught fire early Tuesday morning after the driver hit a vehicle in front of her that had braked for traffic, police said.

At approximately 7:13 a.m., a 17-year-old female driving westbound in a pickup truck ran into the back of a Chevrolet Tahoe on the corner of Harney Lane and Hutchins Street after the driver of the Tahoe had stopped to heed oncoming traffic, said Officer Eric Versteeg of the Lodi Police Department.

Versteeg said the driver of the pickup truck drove off the road after her truck hit the Tahoe, where the truck then proceeded to catch fire.

Lodi firefighters were able to put the vehicle fire out, and the driver of the pickup truck was treated on-scene for minor injuries, Versteeg said.
