Lodi Unified School District food director Warren Sun focuses on freshness

Warren Sun has worked as the director of food services for the
Lodi Unified School District for nine years.
Sun moved to California from China in 1989 as a student. He
first thought he would study agriculture, but in the end he was a
dietetic major at California State University, Fresno. While
looking for internships as a dietitian at a hospital, he found a
job in the King's Canyon School District as a nutritionist. Sun was
later promoted to food services director for that district before
moving to Lodi Unified in 2002.
He lives with his wife and children in Elk Grove.

To provide 30,000 meals of breakfast and lunch to children at
schools every day, the Lodi Unified School District works with a
budget of about $15 million a year.
Warren Sun, director of food services, is the man responsible
for making sure that process goes smoothly. Recently, he was
