Two Stockton residents were arrested Monday at gunpoint after Lodi police officers were notified that they were driving a stolen vehicle from Idaho.
Lodi police officers received notification from On-Star, a vehicle security system, that a rental car out of Idaho had not been returned and that it was shown to be in Lodi, according to Lt. Fernando Martinez of the Lodi Police Department.
Through the system, On-Star located the vehicle, a 2012 silver Chevrolet Equinox, in the JC Penny's parking lot around 8:30 p.m., Martinez said.
Lodi police officers arrived in the parking lot and found Stockton residents Steven Lopez, 30, and Alicia Agundez, 28, in the car.
Officers conducted a high-risk search of the vehicle, Martinez said, and arrested Lopez and Agundez at gunpoint.
Agundez faces charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, and Lopez was later released, Martinez said, because it appeared he was only a passenger in the car.
Agundez remains in police custody in Lodi.
