Highway 12 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday between Interstate 5 at Flag City and Highway 160 near Rio Vista. Workers will restripe the center and shoulder lines. They will also repave the road itself because the road gets beaten up during the winter weather.

The California Department of Transportation decided to close the entire highway to avoid longer delays. Had crew kept one lane open, it would take 15 days to complete repairs and result in 90-minute delays for drivers.

Access to local residents, businesses and emergency service vehicles will be allowed. Motorists are advised to use the Walnut Grove Road in Thornton and Highway 160 from Walnut Grove to Rio Vista. For more information, call 941-6562.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
