Woodbridge to give community awards

Two individuals and a long-time community organization will be honored with the Woodbridge Excellence Award on Thursday night.

Tasso Kandris, former chairman of the Woodbridge Municipal Advisory Council, will receive the Citizen of the Year Award at the MAC meeting. Kandris has been active in community affairs in Woodbridge, Lodi Unified School District and St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Stockton.

In other presentations, Woodbridge Crossing owner Steve Ding will receive the Business of the Year Award, and the Lodi Elks Lodge has been named Community Organization of the Year.

They will be honored at Thursday’s MAC meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 19071, N. Lower Sacramento Road, Woodbridge.

In other action Thursday, the MAC will:

  • Hear public safety reports from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol.
  • Discuss a possible logo for Woodbridge and hanging banners over Lower Sacramento Road.
  • Discuss an empty lot at Carolina Avenue and Lower Sacramento Road.
