The 314 vehicles that drive through the Walnut Avenue-Elk Hills Drive intersection on average each hour will not have to heed a new four-way stop, the Galt City Council has decided.

That was the decision Tuesday in response to a petition signed by more than 200 residents and presented to the city in May. They were concerned with vehicle speeds and pedestrian safety within crosswalks at the intersection.
