The Stockton Diocese has launched a partnership with the University of Notre Dame with the goal of ensuring a strong future for Catholic schools, the diocese announced this week.

Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education will employ its consulting team to develop an in-depth assessment of 12 K-8 schools, including St. Anne’s School in Lodi.

Notre Dame’s assessment will include Catholic identity, academic excellence, governance, institutional advancement, enrollment and demographics, business operations and access to federal grants.

The consulting team expects to begin its study in February and present its assessments and action plans for the 12 schools to the diocese by the fall of 2013.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
