The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department is asking people to not pour paint into local rivers. The issue came up when paint was poured in the Calaveras River beginning in February, as well as some dry creeks in the county.
“We cleaned it up when we found it,” said Kasey Foley, the county’s program coordinator for hazardous waste. “It didn’t impact the water.”
In Lodi, residents can take paint and other hazardous waste on May 5 to Central Valley Waste, 1333 E. Turner Road. Household hazardous waste may also be delivered to 7859 R.A. Bridgeford St., near Stockton Metropolitan Airport. For more information, call 209-468-3066.
