Winegrape growers are testing their grapes and revving up their machines as the harvest kicks off a bit early. Lodi will soon see harvesters and trucks full of grapes winding along area roads.
After another year of drought conditions and a warm winter, grapes are ripening a week or so earlier than usual. However, many growers expect this year’s crop to be close to average — so long as no rain creeps into the Valley before the grapes are picked.
