San Joaquin County Sheriff’s detectives continue to investigate what caused the death of a 50-year-old man whose body was found in his travel trailer late Saturday morning in Acampo.

The body of Bruce Dennis Neumann was found in his travel trailer parked in a truck stop parking lot at the north end of the Jahant Food and Fuel restaurant along the west Highway 99 frontage road, just north of Jahant Road, according to sheriff’s Lt. Mike Jones.

Detectives, who consider Neumann’s death “suspicious,” believe he had been dead for about a week, Jones said. His body was found about 500 yards north of the restaurant.

Neumann’s last known address was in Stockton, but he was living in his travel trailer in the Acampo area, where family members live, Jones said.

A relative was delivering some mail addressed to Neumann and knew that Neumann might be parked at the truck stop when she discovered he was not alive, Jones said. Family members had not heard from him for two weeks, Jones said.

Sheriff’s detectives and California Department of Justice officers examined evidence both inside and outside the trailer for several hours.

“There was trauma, but we don’t know how it was caused,” Jones said.

Neumann was estranged from his wife, and detectives believe he was unemployed.

The case remains under investigation.
