It looks like little more than a square block of dirt in the shadow of downtown Galt, not far from the town's historic central district and several vacant and boarded-up businesses.

But even in a recession, development will rise here on a senior housing project that is set to open in spring 2011 on 4th Street between D and E streets.

lodibill, infill is filling in the spaces on the poor side of town or elsewhere that look like crap. Or "downtown" areas that can't make it.

press-Let it rest dude. Lodi is NOT an Island. Galt plays a huge role both in your economy and the revenue source of the LNS. Why do you think the LNS is printing all of these stories lately on Galt? Do you think it's because they have readership, and a lot of it, in Galt? I'm also a little concerned with the location. Could it BE any closer to the tracks? lolAnd is "infill construction" the new buzzword or code for, "we tore something down to build this"?

Nothing butt the best for Galt senior citizens.Perhaps only those stone deaf will be accepted. Another non-profit money grabber coming to rule the pig trough. How many local jobs will this mean and just where will these fine contractors be coming from? Since it's a government project, I assume, will all employees be e-verified to assure that citizens are brought in and not cheap labor? Will the payroll be certified? Without help from backdoor help from public worksw and city hall? Or will this be a real earnest project to compliment the new Walmart coming to Galt? I thought Lodi needed that new superWalmart so all those Galtonians would flock to Lodi to shop and get their fresh copy of the Lodinews fresh off the presses?

Two very important LUSD school meetings in Lodi last night and no coverage from the News-Sentinel because some greedy newspaper owner thinks redevelopment of downtown Galt is more important than Lodi schools and their failure.. At least the Stockton Record covered it. What a travesty.

This looks like a good project and well needed in the downtown Galt area. Plus, most of the residents can simply take out their hearing aids when the train rolls by.

They will have a lovely view of the railroad tracks. And the noise will be earthshattering. I'm not sure I'd want my mom living there.
