Artwork submitted for the annual Congressional Art Competition, which showcases art created by high school students, will be displayed from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Podesto Teen Impact Center, 725 N. El Dorado St., Stockton.
The artwork being displayed is by students who live in Rep. Jerry McNerney's congressional district. Winning artwork from each district will be displayed in a corridor that leads to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. In addition, the grand-prize winner from the 9th District will be flown with a guest to Washington, D.C., to attend an awards ceremony in June.
The second-, thirdand fourth-place winners will also have their work displayed in one of McNerney's three offices, located in Stockton, Antioch and Washington, D.C. A panel of judges will select the winning entries, and their decision will be announced at Saturday's ceremony and exhibit.
