The Arcohe Union School District will save about $51,000 next school year thanks to a bill recently signed by the governor to restore $248 million statewide in mid-year budget cuts.
The reduction disproportionaly affected rural districts whose students rely on buses.
The 470-student district here was expected to lose $153 per student in bus funds.
School districts are required by state law only to provided transportation for special needs students.
