Two Lodi residents were arrested Saturday morning after leading officers with the auto theft task force on a chase through western Lodi, according to Lodi police.
Officers found two men in a stolen vehicle at about 10 a.m. on Lower Sacramento and Taylor roads, Lt. Chris Jacobson said. The car fled from police, making several evasive turns, and ended up at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Cochran Road, just north of Vine Street.
The two men got out of the stolen car and ran from officers, Sgt. Mike Oden said. The driver, John Terry, was chased by an officer and captured in a backyard nearby, according to police. The officer had to use a Taser to stop Terry, Jacobson said.
The passenger, Austin Reid, was found hiding in a crawl space in the roof at Lodi Memorial Hospital West at Vine Street and Lower Sacramento Road, Oden said. The vehicle, a 2001 Ford F350 pickup truck, was not damaged in the pursuit.
"The vehicle was returned to its owner, and they were very happy," Oden said.
Terry, 37, of Lodi, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, evading police officers and resisting arrest. Reid, 29, of Lodi, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
