Several Lodi Unified School District physical education teachers were recognized for their work raising money for the American Heart Association. Through two programs, Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart, the teachers raised over $12,000 last year.
The board created an ad hoc committee to review applicants for the trustee to represent Area 6. The appointment is for a four-year term to replace trustee Micheal Abdallah, who has declined to run for re-election. Applications, consisting of a resume and letter of intent, are due to the district by Oct. 29. Public interviews will take place on Oct. 30. Applicants must reside within Area 6, a zone ranging across North Stockton. The full area description is available at www.lodiusd.net.

Lodi Unified School District trustees learned more about block scheduling on Tuesday, but have no immediate plans to alter the schedules at any of the district's four high schools.
Ed Eldridge, assessment coordinator, Dawn Vetica, assistant superintendent of secondary education, and Lisa Kotowski, curriculum director, gave their second presentation comparing test scores of students at McNair High School with those of students at the other comprehensive high schools in the district.
