San Joaquin County Supervisors Ken Vogel, Steve Bestolarides, Larry Ruhstaller and Leroy Ornellas have endorsed the candidacy of Assemblyman Bill Berryhill, R-Stockton. Berryhill is running for the open 5th State Senate District against Democrat Cathleen Galgiani.

But most like the benefits of membership. Otherwise there would be a great upheaval against unions and the members would dump them.
Just ask your buddy, BS, who actively participated in the leadership of his union.

Thanks for the clarification Ross. (I should have figured that out myself) As mentioned earlier, I don't have a problem with them endorsing a candidate as individuals......I just have a problem with them endorsing anyone as an elected body when they do not run as "party" members for their own office. And John, I consider myself "up to speed". Unions are not publicly elected bodies and how they conduct themselves is up to them and their union members. Of course I've never been a member of a Union and I have no idea how they operate.

Josh: You have to come up to speed. Galgani is endorsed by the Public Safety Unions, and I guarantee you they did not take a vote of their membership. She also was endorsed by the Calif Fed of Teachers and they werent allowed to vote either. In spite of Ross Farrow's clarification, unions never get to vote on who they will endorse.

The Board of Supervisors didn't take a stand as a government board. I merely identified the four individuals as members of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I don't like the fact that non-party elected officials officially support "party" candidates. What possible benefit can the County receive for the endorsement? And what happens if their endorsed candidate loses? If they want to support them as individuals then that's fine but not a an elected body who do not run as "party" candidates themselves.
