Assemblywoman Alyson Huber, D-El Dorado Hills, will make two local appearances, one on Wednesday and another next Monday.

On Wednesday, Huber will conduct a town hall meeting on the state budget and other topics from 6 to 7 p.m. June 23 at Bear Creek High School, 10555 Thornton Road, Stockton.

In addition to the state budget, Huber will address Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's "May revise" of the state budget and Huber's legislative priorities, which she says include eliminating waste, fraud and abuse in government.

And on Monday, Huber will address Citizens in Action, Lodi's Tea Party Patriots chapter, at 6:30 p.m. at a site to be determined. Tea Party meetings are normally held at the Lodi Public Library, but chapter President Kim Paragoris said she is looking for a larger venue because she expects Huber to draw a large crowd.

Huber will also conduct town hall meetings tonight at Rio Americano and Rosemont high schools in Sacramento and on Thursday at Monterey Trail High School in Elk Grove.

Mosquito spraying to take place tonight

Oak Grove Regional Park on Eight Mile Road is one of three locations to be subject to ground spraying by the San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District.

Oak Grove will be sprayed either between 7:30 p.m. and midnight today or from 5 to 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Other locations to be sprayed are Pixie Woods Park in Stockton and the Wright/Elmwood Tract area west of Stockton.

Spraying is planned because of increased numbers of mosquitos and detection of the West Nile virus in the northern San Joaquin Valley, according to mosquito abatement officials.

For more information, call 982-4675 or 800-300-4675, or visit www.sjmosquito.org. For more information on mosquito control and West Nile virus, call the toll-free number, 877-968-2473, or visit www.westnile.ca.gov. The address for the county Public Health website is www.sjcphs.org/emprep.WestNileVirus.htm.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
