Despite a back injury, Melissa Minjarez is the first woman
across the 5K finish line, with a time of 20 minutes, 26 seconds,
at the 5th annual Pump It Up run at Lodi Lake on Saturday, Oct. 29,
2011. Minjarez said, “I shouldn’t be running today. But I’m a
runner. My legs just take me.”

Pump It Up run
Approximately 300 runners cross the combined 5K/10K starting
line at the 5th annual Pump It Up run at Lodi Lake on Saturday,
Oct. 29, 2011. A one-mile run was offered for younger runners. The
event raises funds for Lodi Unified School District sports
programs. Event co-organizer Lauri Merrill said the fund gladly
accepts donations year-round. For more information, see
