Lodi Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies at fast food restaurants Wednesday night that are possibly connected.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, witnesses said a man walked into a Carl's Jr. restaurant on the 800 block of West Kettleman Lane and pointed a handgun at the employees behind the counter. He demanded money.
After an employee turned over the cash from the register, the suspect escaped on foot and jumped into a white car across the street, reportedly driven by an accomplice.
Minutes later a two men entered a nearby A&W Root Beer on the 200 block of East Lodi Avenue.
Again, one man was armed with a handgun. Holding the weapon, he shoved employees away from the register, grabbed some cash and fled.
Police believe the two robberies are not isolated incidents, said Sgt. Mike Oden of the Lodi Police Department.
Victims from both restaurants gave similar descriptions of the suspect, a black man, Oden said. The gunman's demeanor was comparable during both robberies, as well, Oden said.
Both robberies are still under investigation.
