SMUD customers offered rebates

Residents of Galt and other areas of Sacramento County are eligible for two rebates that could save them $125 to $250 when purchasing high-efficiency clothes washers.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District, which provides electrical service to Sacramento County, is offering the rebates on Energy Star clothes washers, which use about 60 percent less energy and 40 percent less water than conventional machines.

The washers also produce less wastewater and detergent while causing less wear and tear on clothing, according to SMUD.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
