About 250 citizens packed the City Council chambers to debate, late into the night, whether to build a garbage transfer station in a Galt industrial park.
The contentious and, at times, confrontational public hearing lasting more than four hours, was complete with theatrics, cheering and passionate speeches. At issue was California Waste Recovery Systems permit to built a transfer station on Industrial Court.
