Classes and large groups may soon be required to apply for permits if they want to hold events in several Lodi parks.

The Lodi Parks and Recreation Commission will discuss issuing permits for businesses that use Lodi parks for profit and large groups at its Tuesday night meeting. The discussion is a continuation of the commission’s March 4 meeting.

Concerning Parks: Peterson is perhaps the most beautiful park in Lodi, trees to provide shade, bathroom facilities, well maintained along with enough room to allow sports of all kinds to proceed at the same time. I would give it a 9 on the scale of 10.

On the hand, DeBenedetti is the worse park ( if you can call it a park ) in Lodi. It has nothing, all the money spent on lawn and it still looks like a field of hay that needs cutting. It should have been build on the same order as Peterson Park, with fast growing trees. The swamp in the south west corner, was it necessary? It could become a source of mosquitoes, or an attraction for young people to climb the fence and become a liability to the city. It is a 1 on a scale of 10 in my book. [sad]
