The California Street Pub is closed for 15 days because of a suspension relating to a noise complaint.
Owner Christian Cole said the bar is serving a California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control suspension from a noise complaint on April 22. He waited to serve the suspension until the bar's slowest season, after New Year's Eve and St. Patrick's Day.
In the days before the bar closed on March 21, it offered half-price beers to drain the taps. During the closure, Cole said he plans to do a thorough cleaning, pulling everything out from behind the bar and wiping it down.
His staff is also installing a new sound system to decrease the noise level outside the bar, and soundproofing the inside of the building, so less noise escapes, Cole said.
When the bar reopens on April 5, Cole said he also plans to continue having security in the parking lot to prevent customers from standing outside.
"We are going to take this opportunity to make some vital changes to the CSP, including a new sound system and better sound control so we can keep the party going and not disturb our wonderful neighbors," Cole wrote on the bar's Facebook page.
The bar is also planning additional decorative changes and will have a re-opening party on April 6.
