Galt City Council approves recycling center

Galt will let California Waste Recovery center open despite opposition

California Waste Recovery Systems will be allowed to open a materials recycling center after the Galt City Council on Tuesday denied an appeal filed against the project.

The unanimous 5-0 vote came after more than 90 minutes of discussion and more than half a dozen speakers opposing the center.

Shame on the Galt City Council for not listening to the citizens of Galt who have protested this operation in our light industrial park for 20 years. The industrial park is zoned light industrial for a reason. If you need a conditional use permit then you don't belong there. Time for some changes on the Galt City Council. We need people in there who care about the citizens and listen. We came with 150 signatures which isn't bad for the short amount of time we have known about the project.
