Unions should meet the same fate as the 8-track tape. At one time unions had a useful purpose. In today's global economy they serve no purpose except to drive up the cost of everythiing they are involved with, especially government entities.

Typical Sacramento Liberal Democrats! They want everyone to be unionized so that they can take more from the employee paycheck and funnel it back to their own election campaigns. Meanwhile, the workers end up worse than they were. It is a tax on workers to mandate they support democrat candidates. If our growers worked like the unionized government workers, we would all starve because the harvest, like the budget, would be two to three months late and we would have to furlough the workers in the field every other friday.

Cheryl ...Good points.... The union is taking this tragic event and using it to gain power through the back door. This was a very unique situation which had terrible consequences. It is a shame that the union would stoop so low for self interests.

I was wondering why a 17 year old pregant girl working so hard that she died. Is she or not smart enough to take a break if she wasn`t feeling good? Why didn`t someone notice her, and help her? And be the way, I don`t think the union can do any thing if she didn`t belong to the union. You have to belong to one so they can get work for you. I believe if you want to work, you can find it with out the union.
