Three teachers from Galt schools are among the 14 nominated for the annual Sacramento County Office of Education Teacher of the Year award.

A recipient will not be announced for months, but the nominees were honored at a special reception Tuesday. Their administrators and colleagues also attended.

McCaffrey Middle School has two representatives, Jack Branson of alternative education and Bonita Keisler of special education. Galt High School's Verne Walter of special education was also nominated.

At an awards banquet scheduled for Aug. 16, two teachers will be announced as 2014 Sacramento County Teachers of the Year and will be eligible to participate in the statewide competition.

The Teachers of the Year Program is coordinated annually by SCOE to recognize the achievements of local educators and raise awareness of the role they play in the community.
