Filing deadline approaches for local council, board seats

If you want to serve on the Lodi or Galt city councils — or a local school, water or fire district board — you had better file for election by 5 p.m. Friday.

Friday is the deadline to file for local boards and councils in the November general election. For the Lodi and Galt city councils, the deadline is Thursday because the offices in both cities are closed on Friday.

Friday's deadline will be extended five days to Aug. 15 in cities and districts in which an incumbent isn't running.

Here's a rundown of people who have filed for public office:

Lodi City Council (two seats): JoAnne Mounce, Bob Johnson; Doug Kuehne picked up nomination papers.

Galt City Council (two seats): Barbara Payne, Curt Campion and Mike McCune have filed; Kelly Keagy and Mike Hodge have picked up nomination papers.

Galt City Clerk: Liz Aguire has filed.

Galt City Treasurer: Shaun Farrell has filed.

Town issues

Woodbridge Municipal Advisory Council (four seats): Charles Stocker, Douglas Field, Mary Avanti.

Morada Municipal Advisory Council (three seats): None.

Lockeford Municipal Advisory Council (four seats): Jessica Smith.

Thornton Municipal Advisory Council (four seats): None.


Lodi Unified School District (Lodi area, North Stockton): Ralph Milton Womack, trustee area 2; trustee area 6, none; Joe Nava, trustee area 7.

New Hope School District (Thornton) (one seat): None.

Oak View School District (eastern Acampo) (two seats): Stan Seifert.

Galt Joint Union High School District (two seats): Aaron Stanley.

Galt Joint Union Elementary School District (two full terms; one two-year term): John Gordon, full term; Grace Malson, short term.

Arcohe Union School District (two seats): Michele Neider.

Water, sewer, parks

Lockeford Community Services District (two full terms; one two-year unexpired term): None.


Woodbridge Irrigation District (Woodbridge, Thornton, unincorporated areas west of Lodi) (two seats): None.

North San Joaquin Water Conservation District (east Lodi, Lockeford, Clements, Acampo) (two seats): Joe Valenti, Division 3. None for Division 2.

Woodbridge Sanitary District (sewer, garbage rates) (two seats): Harold Rohrbach, Mary Avanti, Charles Stocker, Willie Nelson.

Fire service

Clements Rural Fire Protection District (two seats): Ron Swearengin, Ray Engel.

Liberty Rural County Fire Protection District (eastern Acampo) (two seats): Robert Erman, William Ward.

Mokelumne Rural Fire Protection District (Lockeford and Victor) (two seats): None.

Waterloo-Morada Rural Fire Protection District (Morada, areas south of Morada) (two full terms; one two-year unexpired term): William Snyder, Clayton Titus, Marc Youngblood Sr.

Woodbridge Rural County Fire Protection District (Woodbridge, Flag City, Terminous, unincorporated area west and south of Lodi) (two seats): Michael Manassero.
