Love was in the air when more than 250 people participated in a family dance at Marengo Ranch Elementary School in Galt.
The dance, co-sponsored by the school's Parent Teacher Kid Club, was held Friday.
Participants included students, their parents and siblings. There were so many people interested, a waiting list for tickets had to be created, according to organizer Kevin Brown.
"Part of the good turnout has to do with our All Pro Dad and Imoms breakfast we do each month," he said. "Both of these have been very effective and we have a good pool of families who are supportive of events like this."
The groups promote parental relationships and include before-school breakfasts with their students.
One of the Parent Teacher Kid Club's goals for Marengo is to provide low-cost entertainment, which the family dance accomplished, Brown said. The cost was $5 per family.
"The MRE PTKC did another fantastic job with a low-cost family friendly event. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and I'm already getting questions about next year," principal Terry Metzger said.
Tricia Arter, a second-grade parent, said she and her children had a blast at Friday's dance, and they were still talking about it Monday.
Brown said it was made possible through volunteers who not only helped with set-up and take-down, but also by doing face-painting, manning the photo booth and demonstrating how to make Pizookies, a cookie-pizza creation.
"Elite Entertainment did an awesome job doing the DJ thing," Brown added.
