Would you like to serve on a committee that oversees how Measure L, San Joaquin Delta College’s $250 million general obligation bond, is being spent?

There are four openings for the bond’s citizens oversight committee. One seat is for a business representative, one is for a member of the Delta College Foundation, and two are for at-large representatives.

The committee is responsible for reviewing Measure L expenditures. The bond was approved by voters in 2004. Applicants must live in the San Joaquin Delta Community College District, be at least 18 years old and may not be an employee, vendor, contractor or consultant for the district.

Responsibilities include reviewing quarterly expenditure reports produced by the district, informing the public concerning the district’s expenditure of bond proceeds, and presenting an annual report to the board of trustees.

Applications and documentation for the openings are available online. An informational workshop will be held at 6 p.m. today in the Delta College board room, Horton Administration Building Room 103, 5151 Pacific Ave., Stockton.

Applications must be received in the superintendent/president’s office, Administration 103, by 5 p.m. Sept. 13. The board of trustees is expected to make committee appointments at the Oct. 15 board meeting.
