Lack of funding for the city’s parks may soon be a thing of the past. The Lodi Parks and Recreation Commission voted 4-0 to approve the creation of an expendable parks donation fund at its Tuesday meeting, as well as approving an endowment fund through the Lodi Community Foundation.
Each fund will be started with $6,795 coming from a decades-old recreation commission trust, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Jeff Hood said. He said department staff has tried to determine where the $13,590 trust came from, but has been unsuccessful.
