In what she describes as an effort to provide transparency to the state regulation development process, State Sen. Cathleen Galgiani, D-Stockton, authored a bill to improve public access to legislative and regulatory deliberations.
"Last year, there were 467 new regulations proposed by 103 different state agencies," Galgiani said in a news release. "My bill seeks to continue to create transparency and promote participation by giving the public one centralized source to access agency meeting information."
Senate Bill 176 passed the Senate Governmental Organization Committee on a bipartisan unanimous vote. It will next be heard by the Senate Appropriations Committee.
