Metal horseshoe adornments clinked and colorful dresses twirled as kindergarten students at New Hope Elementary School performed “La Raspa,” an old, traditional Mexican dance.
Cinco de Mayo brought these students, their parents and the Thornton community together in a celebration of Mexican culture, with students in kindergarten through eighth grade performing traditional regional dances from Mexico. It has been a long-standing tradition with roots farther back than current organizers can remember, more than 26 years.
